What is an aquascape?+

An aquascape is a planted underwater landscape — a garden inside an aquarium. Real aquatic plants, stone and driftwood are composed into a natural scene, with small fish, shrimp or snails living among it. It's an aquarium designed as art: balanced, alive, and built to be looked at. Chai Chee Safari designs and builds bespoke aquascapes across Singapore, from desktop nano tanks to six-metre statement installations.

How much does a custom aquascape cost?+

Formats start from $600 (Nano), $3,500 (Centrepiece) and $12,000 (Statement). Final price depends on size, equipment and the livestock you choose — tell us your space on WhatsApp for a clear, honest price with no obligation.

Do you provide the fish?+

Your aquascape comes fully planted — but fish aren't included. A new scape needs a few weeks to mature and stabilise before livestock goes in, so a little patience pays off: you add your own fish once it's ready. Prefer us to handle it? We can source and add suitable fish for you, at cost.

How long does it take to build?+

Lead time is typically a few weeks onwards, depending on scale. We don't rush — proper design is what makes a build last — and because we take on only a handful of builds at a time, there may be a short wait for a slot.

What if my aquascape doesn't establish well?+

That's exactly what the CCS Living Guarantee is for. We return for two maintenance visits in the first 30 days to tune it as it settles, and if it doesn't stabilise the way it should, we put it right.

Do you maintain it after handover?+

Yes. Two settling-in visits are included with every Centrepiece and Statement build (add-on for Nano), and Statement builds also include a complimentary first month of aftercare. For the long term, our aquarium & aquascape maintenance plans start from $200 per visit when the term is paid upfront.

Can you work with my existing tank or a specific spot?+

Often, yes. Send us a photo and the dimensions on WhatsApp and we'll tell you honestly what's possible in your space.

Do you build for offices, restaurants and hotels?+

Absolutely — that's what the Statement format is built for. We handle larger installations end-to-end, including concealed life-support and scheduled maintenance.
