Why it suits a public space
- Movement and sound. A stream running through planted land is the thing people stop for. It is the water feature and the greenery in one piece.
- Singapore's climate is on its side. Warm and humid is what these systems want, so they run stable indoors with less correction than a cold-climate build.
- Life, or not. Crabs or frogs make it an exhibit. Plants alone make it a landscape. Both work; the choice changes the care.
- Scale is flexible. From a reception-desk piece to a room divider. The same recipe scales, the engineering changes.
What to decide before you commission one
- Where people will stand. A paludarium is viewed from the front and above. Sightlines decide the height of the water and where the land rises.
- Animals or planting only. Vampire crabs and tree frogs are the two systems we build most. They need an escape-proof cover, feeding, and a maintenance rhythm. Planting-only needs less.
- Running water. A pump and filter turn the pool into a stream. It is the upgrade that makes the piece, and it needs a power point.
- Who maintains it. Decide this first. A maintenance contract means the building's team never touches it.
What the building needs
A level surface rated for the weight, one or two power points, and a spot out of direct sun. Water changes are carried unless we plumb a drain. Installation is scheduled around your operating hours, and unusual access is confirmed before dispatch.
Two ways to get one
- Ready to order. Our Riverbank Signature is a proven crab paludarium in three sizes, from $520, built in about 30 days. The Canopy Signature is the tall tree-frog version.
- Bespoke. Designed around your space, quoted after a paid consultation. This is the path for atriums, room dividers and anything the public walks through.
Questions, answered
How noisy is the water?+
A gentle stream sound at the enclosure, inaudible across a lobby. Pumps are sized to the piece, and we set the flow on install.
Do crabs or frogs need special licences?+
Keeping them in a private or corporate space is fine. We source and introduce the animals as part of a maintenance visit once the system has matured.
How often does it need a visit?+
Monthly is the common rhythm for a planted paludarium with animals. Larger or heavily stocked pieces may want fortnightly. The contract sets it.
Can it be built into joinery?+
Yes. We work alongside your designer or contractor and handle the drawings, coordination and installation ourselves.
